Daughters of the American Revolution - General Francis Marion Chapter
NonprofitThe National Society Daughters of the American Revolution was founded in 1890 to promote Historic Preservation, Education, and Patriotism across the United States. Since the Society's founding, more than one million women have found purpose and passion in DAR membership. The local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, named after Francis “the Swamp Fox” Marion, was established in 1910 and is a non-profit, non-political volunteer women’s service organization “dedicated to preserving American history, securing America’s future through better education and promoting patriotism.” The ladies of the DAR support the local JROTC program, organize events at the VA and maintain the three Grant County Revolutionary War veterans’ graves (at Bethel Cemetery, East 38th Street and Maple Grove Cemetery). They’ve even had the opportunity to present a Braille US flag as a reward to a blind student.
